Man Boobs
Now that I have your attention. This article is about male hormone imbalances … as it is more and more common to see men with low levels of Testosterone and elevated levels of Oestrogen which the main hormonal imbalance associated with gynaecomastia (commonly known as man boobs). The good news is that this condition can be reversed and as a side effect make you feel a lot happier, hornier and healthier. (Photograph www.dailymail.co.uk)
After the age of 35 male testosterone levels decrease by approximately 1% every year but with a little help your (or your male partner’s) levels can be optimised. So let’s look at some of the signs and symptoms of low Testosterone…
Difficulty getting and keeping erections.
Mood changes (commonly known as grumpy old man or I.M.S. – irritable man syndrome).
Low semen volume.
Reduced muscle strength.
Low libido.
Longer time to recover from exercise.
Low energy.
Poor concentration.
Depression.
Osteoporosis.
Hot flushes, sweats.
Reduced beard or body hair growth.
Gynaecomastia (commonly known as man boobs).
One issue is that Testosterone can be converted to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which in excess can be detrimental causing many health concerns such as baldness, aggression and prostate enlargement. For optimal health we can help you inhibit the conversion of Testosterone to DHT.
Studies have shown that men with weight gain, diabetes or high blood pressure may be twice as likely to have low Testosterone.
The other issue that men face these days is elevated Oestrogen. A big factor in this is the high carbohydrate (especially refined carbohydrate) and low exercise environment. This causes weight gain (especially problematic is high fat around your organs or central obesity) where your Testosterone is converted to Oestrogen. Although many men have commented that their beer belly is indeed a fuel tank for a love machine…don’t be fooled…sadly the biochemical picture all points to lower Testosterone, higher Oestrogen and lower sexual performance.
The other major factor increasing our oestrogen levels is the toxic / plastic environment we live in. These ‘plastic oestrogens’ are known as xenoestrogens. (see the list below). The good news is that we can help the body clear these harmful chemicals with a great product called Oestroclear.
The short list of Xenoestrogen sources!
• Plastic bottles (as well as the lining of many food cans and juice containers), PVC pipes, pesticides, herbicides, (go organic), meat or dairy products (bovine growth hormone – so go organic), preservatives, marijuana, oestrogens from birth control pill and HRT ends up in the sewerage and then in the food chain, dry cleaning, copiers and printers, carpets, fiberboards, new carpets, electrical oils, lubricants, adhesive paints, lacquers, solvents, oils, paints, fuel, industrial wastes, packing materials, harsh cleaning products, fertilizers
• Especially avoid heated plastics (heated by microwave, oven, or sun), such as Styrofoam cups, heated take away food in plastic containers.

• Benefits women experiencing conditions associated with excessive DHT production
A unique combination including Enduracell broccoli sprout powder, Sesame seed, Resveratrol, Selenium, Tribulus and Zinc to support testosterone production as well as inhibit its conversion to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and unhealthy oestrogen metabolites.
Balancing testosterone levels is not just about regulating the production. Tribulus is well known for its ability to increase testosterone levels, however innovative new insights reveal that Resveratrol and Sesame lignans help inhibit production of oestradiol (E2) and potentially carcinogenic E2 metabolites whilst Nettle, Saw Palmetto and Zinc are well known to block production of DHT which has been shown to be elevated in disorders such as prostate disease, excessive acne and benign prostatic hypertrophy. Sulforaphane, from Broccoli, concentrated in the proprietary ingredient Enduracell, has been shown to decrease oxidative stress and increase phase II liver detoxification.
OestroClear
A unique formulation of Broccoli sprout, Sesame seed extract, Calcium D glucarate, Turmeric, Rosemary, Minerals and Active B vitamins designed to encourage healthy oestrogen balance and metabolism.
Oestrogen is a steroid hormone and one of the primary female sex hormones, also present at lower levels in males. Oestrogens play an important role in bone formation and maintenance, exert cardioprotective effects, and influence behaviour and mood.1,2 An excess of oestrogen, or oestrogen dominance (relative to progesterone), can contribute to a variety of conditions including menorrhagia, endometriosis, fibroids, fibrocystic breast disease, breast and endometrial cancers, polycystic ovaries, infertility, weight gain and thyroid dysfunction.3,4,5 And of course MAN BOOBS!
An excess of oestrogen, or oestrogen dominance, can be a contributing factor to a myriad of health conditions. For normal oestrogen balance and metabolism a number of factors need to be addressed such as, phase II liver detoxification, thyroid function, methylation and homocysteine levels. Nutraceuticals which may be beneficial include aromatase inhibitors, phyto-oestrogens, lignans, antioxidants and supporting vitamins and minerals.
