Understanding your personality with Rayid Birth Order

Have you ever wondered why two siblings raised in the same way have completely different personalities? Rayid Birth Order is the system that explains such differences, attributing them to our position within the family tree, our gender and social situation. Rayid does so by analysing the 12 archetypal birth order positions: six boys and six girls, each of which is yin or yang. The yin positions tend to be more feminine, featuring qualities such as inner peace, bliss, calm, creativity, the ability to receive and be non-judgemental. The yang positions more strongly possess qualities such as courage, success, inner strength and the outward expression of joy.

The unique qualities defined by gender and birth order are manifested in body type, personality and creative expression. Rayid Birth Order allows a deeper understanding of the essential goodness of each person and the subtle nuances of their personality. For example, a first-born male will tend to be thinner than his younger brother who is in a yang position of the family tree. A first-born boy tends to be soft, dreamy, feminine and possessing an almost ethereal quality. His younger brother is likely to be stockier and more fiery and quick to temper.

In a family where there are two females, the opposite is the case. The eldest girl is in a yang position. In a nuclear family, she is typically close to her father. She is naturally a matriarch and is likely to compete with her mother. Strong and serious from a young age, she would benefit from being encouraged to play lest she grow up too quickly.

Her younger sister belongs to nobody. From an early age, many second-born females look at their families and feel they are completely different. Two girl is mysterious, calm and detached. She values freedom and privacy and can’t wait to flee the family home.

The beauty of Rayid Birth Order is its ability to help us understand ourselves and accept each other. Moreover, Rayid gives us tools to assist our spiritual advancement through specific meditations which enhance our dominant characteristics. A second-born girl, for example, will benefit from focusing upon increasing her naturally peaceful demeanour. She may do so by meditating upon a lake with no ripple.

Understanding Rayid Birth Order is invaluable for parents, as an understanding of their children’s innate differences can lead to different methods of parenting. Each of us is born with individual gifts and talents and we have lessons to learn. When these individual characteristics are recognised, acknowledged and nurtured in childhood, it provides the specific support required for an individual to achieve his/her maximum potential. From here a child is better equipped to master the challenges of life and to experience relationships in a healthier way. A first-born son, for example, is likely to have some clashes with his father who may have difficulty understanding him. He needs acceptance and patience from his father. Whereas while a second-born son tends to naturally relate to his father, he would benefit from strong moral guidance from his father, and to be encouraged to express his emotional fire in positive ways.

Rayid also deals with the impact broken families have upon children. If a man leaves his family, the eldest son is likely to wake from his dream rather abruptly, realising with dismay that he is now the man of the house. This experience of going yang is not appreciated and can lead to a anger as this boy wakes from his dream. Similarly, the eldest girl suffers an enormous amount of pain if rejected by her father. It disrupts her equilibrium and can lead to a dangerous journey into more negative yin, leading to depression and lack of self-esteem. However, with its spiritual focus, Rayid demonstrates that this journey is far from fruitless as it helps to evolve an individual’s consciousness. The personal lesson for the first-born son, in this instance, is to learn to take action. Similarly, for the first-born girl, her lesson is to go on a journey within, learn to receive, creating a sense of inner peace.

In the Rayid Model, birth order position is determined by a combination of your genetic number, your gender number, and your social number (see below).

Use and combine the brief descriptions in the chart below as an introduction to Rayid Birth Order. While certain things will act as modifiers (i.e., iris structure, blended families, the loss of a sibling, etc.), the descriptions provide an overview.

In the Rayid Model, there are three parts that make up your birth order position: Genetic Number, Gender Number, and Social Number.

Step 1: Start with your Genetic Number

To determine this, identify the gender of your father’s first-born child. If his first child was a boy and you were born next, the Genetic Number of your birth order position is a #2 boy (regardless of your gender). This means you will have characteristics of a number 2 boy.  If you are the first-born son, your genetic number is ‘1 boy’. If you were born fourth, after a first born son, your genetic number is ‘4 boy’, and so on.  Again, this holds regardless of your gender.

Step 2: Identify your Gender Number

If you are a female, identify which daughter/girl you are in your family: the first (#1 girl), second (#2 girl), fifth (#5 girl), etc. The process is the same if you are a male, in determining which son/boy you are in the sibling sequence of your family. Whatever your gender number is, you will have a dominance of these characteristics as well in your personality.

Step 3: Identify your Social Number (if applicable)

This applies to the social situation in which you grew up. For example, if your father had children with more than one woman, you may or may not have grown up with all of your siblings and step-siblings in the same house. As another example, perhaps you grew up in a ‘blended family’ – meaning with step-siblings from a step-parent. Whatever your situation was, identify your social birth position. Do this by determining which birth position you occupied (from oldest to youngest) in the house you grew up in. Again, start with the gender of the oldest child you lived with.

If the oldest child was a boy and you were younger, determine if you were 2nd, 3rd, etc.

If you were 3rd, for example, you will have characteristics of a #3 boy (regardless of your gender).

If the oldest child was a girl and you were younger, determine if you were 2nd, 3rd, etc.

If you were 2nd, for example, you will have characteristics of a #2 girl (regardless of your gender).

Genetic, gender, and social factors compose your dominant personality and behavioural characteristics. Interestingly, the most dominant factor of all is your social birth number, meaning the social situation in which you grew up.

To determine your birth order position, add together your results from the above three steps. Let’s say, for example, you are a genetic #3 boy, a gender #2 girl, and a social #4 girl. The qualities and characteristics that correspond with these three birth order positions will be strongest in your personality and behaviour.

Your birth order position would be: ‘3 boy, 2 girl, 4 girl’. Look below to see what this means. Enjoy the experience of determining your birth order position.
